When you sell shares from your demat account, NSDL blocks that exact quantity in your own demat account for pay-in to the exchange, and sends you an SMS and email confirming it. This is a routine, SEBI-mandated investor-protection alert — not a sign of an error on your account.
What does the block on my securities mean?
Instead of your shares being moved out to a broker pool account before settlement, NSDL places a block/lien on the quantity you sold, directly in your own demat account. The shares stay in your name until they're transferred to the clearing corporation on settlement day — the block just prevents you from selling or transferring that quantity again until the trade settles.
Why do I get an SMS and email every time?
NSDL sends this alert on every block so you're informed the moment your holdings are earmarked for a transaction. If you receive this message but didn't place the sell order yourself, it's your signal to act immediately rather than discovering it only when the shares are debited.
What should I do if I didn't place this sell order?
Contact Rupeezy support right away with the SMS/email you received and your registered details, so the transaction can be checked before settlement completes.
